T is for Tina!

The first thing I always look to do when I head for a new place is to seek out and make a friend. After all, life is quite boring without others to talk to, or let you know that “siesta” really means nap, and not breaking out and dancing in the middle of a cafe. Thus came the realization and meeting up with Tina here in Buenos Aires.
What are my first impressions of Buenos Aires? Well, I picked up a digital camera for Tina in SeaTac, and checked my bag in with American Airlines. However, this is mostly to discover that all the carabiners (and things attached to them) were apparently swiped off of my bag in EZE.
The city itself is rather like a modern day Paris, except with a South American twist. 40 floor condo buldings light the sky with obviously new architecture style that is showing a more contemporary twist. The drivers and inhabitants are friendly, though I’m getting an interesting picture only being in Palermo so far. Taxi drivers here are definitely more leaning on the chinese side, though they do pay attention to traffic lights here, which is always soothing on one’s nerves.

Glad to hear that you made it there in one piece! That’s a bummer about your carabiners and the stuff attached to them. Lose anything important? You make me want to go to Buenos Aires! Can’t wait for the next entry. I’m living vicariously through you

Does this mean that Tina’s camera was also stolen? Ridiculous…
March 26th, 2008 at 9:12 amLet´s see, I lost handy sunscreen and chapstick that were binered to the backpack. Also, my nalgene in the side pocket, and the MSR canister for the gas for my stove. None of this is very expensive, but the MSR canister makes it super annoying for me because I´ve needed to rent a stove for all my camping because they don´t sell MSR down here.
No Mike, Tina´s camera made it unscathed. Unfortunately, I´m not sure the camera is actually working!
